Settings

SMTP Server (outgoing mail server):

Server name (address): mail.perlovka.org
Server port: 25

Our SMTP server requires authorization for mail relays. Two different authorization methods are supported: plain and STARTLS STPM command. For mail clients that do not support password encryption (such as MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express), you have to use STARTTLS method with PLAIN password ("This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" checkbox for "Outgoing mail (SMTP) settings group in Advanced configuration tab for Outlook Express).

For mail clients that can provide an encrypted authorization, you can use CRAM-MD5 and DIGEST-MD5 methods for plain connection and also PLAIN connection inside STARTTLS tunnel.

Incoming mail server:

server address: mail.perlovka.org
server port: 143 and 993 (see below)

Our IMAP server also supports several different authorization models. For client that do not support proper IMAP authorization mechanisms, you can use TLS connection on port 993 ("This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" checkbox for "Incoming mail (IMAP) settings group in Advanced configuration tab for Outlook Express).

For mail clients that can provide an ecnrypted authorization, there are two options: You can use an ecnrypted authorization for CRAM-MD5 and DIGEST-MD5 encryption or, additionally use a plain password inside a STARTTLS IMAP tunnel. In both cases, you should use standard IMAP port 143.

Additional settings:

We strongly recommend you to map your mail client folders to the following IMAP folders (note that these IMAP folder names are case-sensitive):

Mail Client folder:IMAP server folder name:
Sent itemsSend
TrashTrash
DraftsDrafts
Junk mailJunk
TemplatesTemplates

This is to make sure that all different clients that you might use (include perlovka.org web mail client) are using the same folders for sent e-mails, draft and deleted letters, templates and junk mail (spam). All the server configuration will assume that these are the names of the folders you are using. Should you decide to use different names, you might end up being unable to access your folders from some mail clients, or not get your mail filtered by Spam Assasin which we are planning to install. Also please set up your mail client to move the deleted e-mails into 'Trash' folder (instead of just marking them as deleted) to avoid get high quota usage).
